Notes:
Kelvin from Urban Survival Gear is back at it again with another Kickstarter project. Instead of the standard pen, or fountain pen, he’s created a highlighter. Why? Because no one else has. This is the first machined highlighter project out there. There’s a few nice EDC-ready features, and the machining is clean and precise.
Along with the highlighter, Kelvin sent over a G2 version of the pen, also in titanium. The highlighter uses a Montblanc refill, which can be a bit expensive. If you use highlighters enough to justify one made out of titanium, then the refill price shouldn’t bother you too much. I’m happy to report that the highlighter is really smooth and easy to use. The ink flows nicely, and is a bright “highlighter” yellow.
Both the highlighter and pen are comfortable to hold. They’re relatively thin, lightweight, and a good length for writing with the cap posted.
The highlighter cap has an integrated magnet, which is quite strong. If you have something at your desk to attach it to, it’s a nice touch. I’m not huge fan of pocket carrying anything magnetic, so this is more of a desk tool for me. The cap with clip is definitely a better option for me.
The grooves in the pen are not matching. I’m not sure why, but it kind of takes away from the “matching set” look of the two pens. It’s not a huge deal, but worth noting.
The TiScrible Highlighter is nicely made, works well, and is made right here in the USA. I don’t use highlighters all that often, but if you do, this is something worth looking at. Thank you to Kelvin for sending it over! The campaign is already fully funded, so back with confidence.
There’s just under two weeks left to get in on the pledge!
