Parker Quink – Black
Fountain Pen Ink
– Handwritten Review –
Pen: Lamy 2000, Medium Nib
Ink: Parker Quink – Black
Paper: Rhodia dotPad, No. 16 – Top Spiral Bound
Parker Quink has been around for decades, which says a lot about a company. Usually when they’ve been making something for so long, that’s a good sign. While there’s nothing crazy about this ink, it’s a solid performer that gets the job done. Since it’s creation, Parker Quink was advertised as a fast-drying ink that required little maintenance. It’s a smooth writer that flows nicely. I think the saturation could be a bit better and there’s a bit of a greenish tinge to the ink, which I don’t know how I feel about. I prefer my black inks to be black, with no shading. I’ll use a grey if I want some variation, but I like my black to be black. My experience with Parker’s Quink was not bad, but there are definitely other black inks that I would reach for first.
Thanks for reading and enjoy the review!
- Noodler’s Borealis Black (another black ink I reviewed)
- Montblanc Mystery Black (yet another black ink review)

Whoa. I was surprised to see shading in your review here! How unusual for a black ink! I have never tried Quink but have never been particularly excited to get any and try it either. Reading your review will be good enough for me hehe
If you’re looking for a really black ink, I can recommend Sheaffer’s Jet Black. I too find Parker’s offering a little pale, but I’ve not noticed a green cast – maybe it’s a batch issue?
Possibly? There are so many variables that can make ink look different too. It could be the paper, the wetness of the nib, the nib width, etc., etc. It’s not a bad ink, just not my favorite. I’ll also keep Sheaffer’s Jet Black in mind, thank you for the suggestion!
Nice review! i dont like my quinks but thats because i find mine to be way too watered down and it seems to leave a lot of residue in my pens
thik i got a ba bottle. i bought it of ebay
Definitely could have been a bad bottle. Quink is known for being a safe ink. If it leaves residue, I would discontinue using it.
I find it to be a good general purpose ink.
