What is it? The Kutsuwa Stad T’Gaal (wow, that’s a mouthful) is a compact and versatile pencil sharpener that’s sure to produce a point that even the most particular pencil aficionados like.

Notes: The T’Gaal is pretty impressive. As you can see above, it’s able to produce everything from a very short point to a decently long one. The sharpener is made of plastic, has a lead shaving removal door on the back, and a dial on the front to select the length of the point. A “1” yields the shortest point (foreground) and a “5” yields the longest (background). The selection knob operates smoothly and the blade inside is plenty sharp. It’s easy to use and produces a clean, sharp point that is a pleasure to write with. I find myself liking the “3” setting – not too long and not too short. Using it is simple: select your length, stick the pencil in, turn a whole bunch until there’s no resistance, and pull out a pointy pencil that’s ready to write.

Overall, the sharpener gets the job done well. I like that there are options in point length. At just over $6.00, the T’Gaal is reasonably priced. If you’ve been looking to get the point of your pencil just the way you want it, look no further than this well-thought-out design from Kutsuwa.
