Jacques Herbin 1798: Amethyste de l’Oural Ink Review + Video
What is it? This new ink from Jacques Herbin (the ink maker formerly known as J. Herbin) is a deep shade of purple with a silver shimmer addition.
Notes: This year’s new edition of shimmering ink is in a totally different series. Instead of the now standard gold particle shimmer, Herbin inks have released one with silver. The base ink is a deep purple that shade from light to dark with a good amount of silver particles suspended in the ink. Exaclair (Herbin’s US distributor) commissioned me to make a video for them, you can check it out on their YouTube page here:
To keep things conflict-of-interest-free, I’m not going to post a full on review of the ink. I did my best in the video (and photos) to show off the color and shimmer in both dip pen and fountain pen writing. I will report that the ink has good flow, a good amount of shimmer, and writes quite smooth in the broad nib of my Tactile Turn Gist. The ink is available starting in September from all of your favorite retailers. Most of them have posted about the ink already, so finding out how to get some won’t be hard!

Thanks for reading!
Seems to be a beautiful smooth flowing ink with silver simmer. Would love to try especially after watching the video
